Product Designer
Shape the product experience for people navigating the labour market
The role
We are looking for a Product Designer to join our product team in Aarhus.
This is not a role where design happens in isolation. You will work in a Product Trio alongside a PM and Tech Lead— owning your own epics and feature areas end to end, from discovery through to shipped frames. The work that shapes everything else here happens before a line of code is written: finding the right problem, challenging assumptions, and making sure we build the right things in the first place.
You will be the second full-time designer on the team, alongside an existing Product Designer and a student assistant. Ownership is divided by epic — but understanding the whole platform and thinking in systems matters just as much as the work you own directly.
Your work will reach hundreds of thousands of people across the Nordics — job seekers navigating labour market reforms, employment professionals adapting to new digitalisation strategies, and institutions managing significant change.
What you will work on
Candeno serves municipalities, unemployment funds (a-kasser), and educational institutions across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The platform has three sides: candidates navigating the labour market, advisors guiding them through digitalisation and compliance workflows, and companies recruiting talent. One platform, many contexts.
Configurability is central to how the platform works. A municipality, an a-kasse, and an educational institution may all use the same flow — but with different rules, terminology, and context. The design challenge is making that flexibility feel coherent, not fragmented.
We are actively redesigning core flows across all three sides of the platform. You will:
Discovery and problem framing
• Run user research, interviews, and usability tests within your areas
• Turn findings into clear problem statements and design directions the trio can act on
• Challenge assumptions before solutions get locked in — validate at pace, not at length
Design direction and iteration
• Move from validated problems to concepts, flows, and interaction patterns
• Prototype and test quickly to reduce risk before build
• Make design decisions that hold up across a wide and diverse user base
Delivery
• Deliver production-ready Figma frames and work closely with engineers to make sure they land as intended
• Extend a design system that is actively growing — every feature you ship adds to it
• Design with accessibility as a core constraint from the start, not a final check
Who we are looking for
You are a well-rounded designer with delivery capability as your foundation. Your edge is at the front of the process — you know how to find the right problem before jumping to solutions, and how to do it at a pace that keeps up with a team that ships.
You will need:
• 3 to 6 years in product design, with a track record across visual design, interaction design, and UX
• Deep Figma proficiency — components, auto-layout, variables, and working within and extending an existing component library
• Real experience running user research and synthesising it into design direction — not just exposure to the concept
• Comfort with a design system that is still being shaped — you see an evolving system as an opportunity, not a problem
• A considered approach to AI in your workflow. You use it to think better, not just to produce faster.
• Accessibility awareness from the start
• Clear communication — you can defend a design decision to a PM, a developer, and a CSM, and make it feel simple
The kind of person who does well here:
• Curious across disciplines — craft, interaction logic, and the underlying user problem matter equally to you
• Ownership mindset — you follow a problem all the way through
• Comfortable making decisions without a perfect foundation — and honest about the tradeoffs when you do
• Direct — you share work early, give feedback clearly, and push back when something is not right
What the first six months look like
After one month
You understand the platform, the users, and the markets. You have mapped the design system, understood how ownership divides across the design team, and taken your first epic.
After three months
You are fully owning your areas — discovery, design decisions, and delivery. You are a trusted voice in the Product Trio and sprint conversations.
After six months
Multiple features have shipped end to end. Your discovery work is shaping what gets built and what gets deprioritised. Together, you and the existing designer are covering more ground — and covering it better — than one person ever could.
Working at Candeno
We are a scale-up. That means real ownership, real impact, and a product that is still being shaped — by the people who work on it.
We are based in Aarhus. This is an on-site role — the Product Trio way of working means we need you in the office.
The team is small and cross-functional. You will have real autonomy and close proximity to decisions. We are direct and focused on doing the right thing for users. We share work early and expect you to do the same.
What we offer
• Pension scheme and Health Insurance
• 5 extra days off after 2 years of seniority (10 in total)
• Daily lunch from Meyers Madhus
• A shared milestone programme that celebrates successes big and small
• An active social life — team events, clubs, and an engaged social committee
The process
• A short screening call
• A first interview — a deeper conversation about your experience and the role
• A case interview — a practical brief sent in advance
No cover letter. You will answer three short questions when you apply.
